It doesn't have all of the fancy features some commercial programs have, but what it does, it does well and the price is right it's free. It also features command line CD burning and supports most known hardware configurations though you might run into trouble when trying to burn at fast speeds as with most other burning software. Watch out for the Ask toolbar install though I use this to burn all my images backups , and to create copies of my own family home movies from either BD or DVD when they watch it and want one done for themselves. This in itself may not be enough reason for you to choose not to install ImgBurn, but you should at least know what else comes with it.
I use ImgBurn for years. Its awesome and free. If the settings are wrong for you particular file type it will tell you and fix it. If you use it as much as I do please visit the ImgBurn website and donate 5 bucks. I burn a full DVD in 5 min. Love how easy it is to use. The only burning software I use. Once I started to use this, I have never gone back to Nero. Imgburn is a lot more user friendly for all users alike. Plus it's free. Great app. This is free. I use it to back up files and folders.

I follow most of your advice. I do use Avast free and have returned to the original topic to try to get MBAM v2 working on my laptop. I used to use Secunia PSI, but they started doing the updates. I prefer to do them myself. I now use SUMo Lite installer which "does not contain any sponsors", to determine which of my installed software needs updates.
